Game Schedule:
Any questions about your team’s schedule? Home teams will wear light jerseys (except in 14U division when opponents of the Saugerties Fillies must wear light since their jersey color is red). Crossover games will be announced as soon as they are known (where you see A1, A2, etc. on the schedule document; third games are determined by record in the first two games—2 points for wins, 1 for ties, 0 for losses).
Tournament Rules:
Document is attached and will be available in the tournament program and in packets for each coach. It is our intent to offer a safe and fair hockey competition for all players. Referees (including some who referee NCAA Women’s Hockey), the Tournament Committee, and the Discipline Committee will work together in this endeavor and ask you to also encourage positive attitudes and behaviors from your players and parents.
Off Ice Officials:
Tompkins Girls Hockey Association volunteers will cover all
clock and scorekeeping duties, but we ask each team to provide one Penalty Box
worker for each of their games at The RINK and Lynah. Only one is needed for
Official Rosters:
Thank you to everyone for getting us your rosters, fees,
applications, photos, captions, etc! We do need to see a copy of your USA
Hockey team registration official roster (or Hockey
Scoresheets:
Coaches need to sign in on the game scoresheet before each game; see the tournament info table at each venue. Girls do not need to sign in. Scoresheets will be available soon after the completion of each game.
Contact Information:
I am your contact and feel free to contact me at any time during the weekend at 607-280-4380, or in advance by email or phone. We need to be able to reach each team during the tournament. Please provide the name of the contact, their hotel or other accommodations, their cell phone. Send this to me in advance by email. Thank you.
Community Service
Travel hockey players sometimes don’t have time to do much community service, but there is an easy one when you are at the Ithaca Shooting Stars Invitational. Our Rotary Clubs are collecting new and lightly used outer-wear through the Share the Warmth campaign. There is a large well-marked crate in the lobby of The RINK for donations especially of children’s coats, snowpants, hats, gloves, scarves and boots. Deadline is December 2 so the tournament is an excellent collection time before the distribution to families in need.
Go Big Red Women’s
Hockey:
The Cornell women’s hockey team is offering FREE admission
to tournament team players for their two games, Friday Nov. 30 at 4:00 p.m. vs.
Quinnipiac and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4:00 p.m. vs.
PS The Cornell men’s hockey team will be entertaining UMass Amherst on Friday at 7:00 p.m.; tickets are not very available, but you can call 607-254-BEAR to check.
Tournament Special
Features:
TGHA is 35 years old this month! Watch for our tournament theme…it’s the 70s again, but better since girls hockey has grown here and where you are, too!
No Gate Admission will be charged, but we hope you will buy the tournament program featuring team photos, schedule and scoreboard, and information about TGHA sponsors and area restaurants.
Raffle table will be at The RINK lobby with many great hockey-related items as well as others featuring local items or ones that travel hockey families will enjoy.
Tournament apparel will be on sale in The RINK lobby and at Lynah where the championships are to be held.
Action photography will be again offered by Paul Johnson at all RINK and Lynah games. Even though many of us have digital cameras now and photo printing options at home, his cameras are superior at catching hockey action. In addition to standard photos print options, he has something new to offer:
If 10 parents per team cooperate to place a photo CD order,
these prices will apply....
If we catch only one game the CD will
be $15.00
If we catch only two games the CD will be
$20.00
If we catch 3 or more games the CD will be $25.00
They will also have individual CDs available - ( all photos of "YOUR"
child) for our usual $40 for those teams that can't get 10 parents
to cooperate.
