Reminders for Initiation and House

Helmets with masks are required whenever on the ice.  Only coaches
(over 18 year old ones, too) can wear helmets without masks when
coaching, but not when playing ice hockey.

It's getting colder at Cass Park which means the ice is harder and
better for skating, but it also means more clothing is needed when
at practice.  Older players who are moving most of the time at
practice don't necessarily wear anything different except on frigid
nights, but the smaller and newer players should.

Coaches Becky and Beth recommend lightweight gloves inside of hockey
gloves, warm socks or two pairs of lightweight ones, scull cap style
hats under helmets, and layers of clothing under their hockey pants
and jerseys.  If it's more comfortable to wear a winter coat that
fits over pads and pants then that is fine, too.  Jerseys are not
required, but padded safety equipment is!

They will keep the girls moving as best they can, and will take
warmup breaks when/if we have sub zero or low wind chill nights this winter.

Following Cornell Women

The Cornell women's hockey team will be at Dartmouth and Harvard
this weekend.  Follow the team at
http://cornellbigred.com/index.aspx?tab=icehockey2&path=whockey

The web site under Schedule doesn't list Live Stats for these games
but there may be a way to follow through the Dartmouth or Harvard
web sites.  Good links at www.ecachockey.com or
www.uscho.com.

Tournament Help Needed

Friday Dec. 5-Sun. Dec 7 is our exciting Ithaca Shooting Stars
Invitational Tournament.  It brings 21 other teams to town as well
as gives our three travel teams exciting competition, and a boost to
the Ithaca economy with all those hotel rooms, meals, gas tanks, car
washes, not to mention holiday shopping that can go on!  TGHA (all
programs) benefit from the tournament revenue, too.

Training is available to anyone who wants to volunteer and hasn't
signed up yet, contact Matt Ulinski at mattulinski@rivertrailchinooks.com.

See the tournament schedule on our web site under Tournament menu at left.
