Breaking News--Sunday Ice Time for Initiation and House
Sunday Nov. 9
12:45-2:15 p.m.
Cass Park
TGHA has an extra weekend slot this weekend that has just been given to
Initiation and House! We have at least one coach available, and hope
others will be able to join, too, to add another fun ice time for the girls as
the season starts. Sorry about the short notice, but we hope that those
who are available will enjoy a daytime practice. No need to rsvp; if registered then players and coaches are OK to
skate.
Tuesday Invitation to Guest Speaker
My name is Mitchell Alva and I'm at student at Cornell. I'm currently
helping to coordinate a talk next Tuesday, November 11, with Ricky Olczyk, the Assistant General Manager and Director of
Hockey Administration and Legal Affairs for the Edmonton Oilers (also younger
brother of Ed Olczyk). I just wanted to pass
along the event invitation to you, in hopes that you might be able to send it
to community members involved in TGHA. Thank you so much for your help.
Best Regards,
Mitch Alva

Ricky Olczyk was named the
Oilers' Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Administration and
Legal Affairs on August 8, 2008. In his position, Olczyk
works closely with the GM on various hockey operations duties, including player
contracts, negotiations and NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement issues.
Olczyk, the 38-year-old younger brother of former NHL
forward Ed Olczyk, joined the Oilers in 2007 after
six seasons in the private sector, where he ran his own legal consulting firm
in Chicago, Illinois.
Born and raised in Chicago, Olczyk played four
seasons of NCAA Division I hockey at Brown University between 1988-89 and
1991-92 and served as the Bears' captain during his senior season. He was named
to the Academic All-Ivy Team in 1991-92. Olczyk was
also the captain of the United States Under-17 National Team that won the
silver medal at the 1986 World Cup in Chicago.
A 1996 graduate of Cornell Law School, Olczyk was
admitted to the Arizona Bar in 1996 and worked two years with a law firm in
