Thursday Night at Cass Park

10/30 is the first night of TGHA practices at Cass Park as the regular season starts!!

Initiation and House take the ice at 5:15 p.m. They may be able to stay on the ice a little longer this week but typically their ice time ends promptly at 6:15 p.m.

This week 12U starts at 6:45 p.m.and 14U at 8:00 p.m.(19U is at The RINK at 7:40 p.m).  Stay tuned for a schedule change in coming weeks.

Coach Beth of Initiation, Coach Becky of House, and VP House Kathey MacQueen will be on hand to greet new and returning players.

Everyone needs to have completed their USA Hockey registration before going on the ice.  Kathey will collect TGHA registration paperwork, too.  See the details on how to register at

http://www.ithacagirlshockey.com/registration/how_to_reg.html

Equipment loans are best done at The RINK on Mondays.  If you need to borrow equipment, discuss with Kathey MacQueen or reply to this message (or phone 280-4380)

Qualified coaches/parents who are going to assist Beth and Becky should be registered with TGHA, too. Be in touch with Kathey, Beth and Becky (contact info below).

Mondays and Tuesdays, too

TGHA programs are also on the ice for practices on Mondays and Tuesdays, and there are weekend game slots for the travel teams (and House will have some later in the season, too!).

Mondays at The RINK

Initiation 6:00-7:00 p.m.

House 6:30-7:30 p.m.

12U 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Tuesdays at Lynah

14U and 19U 7:45-9:15 p.m.

Volunteers Needed

TGHA has an immediate need for an Equipment Loan Coordinator and a Co-Chair for Communications.  Reply to this message or contact Mary at 280-4380 asap for more info on the roles.

There will be other calls for help soon, too.  VP House Kathey will be seeking Initiation and House parents who can assist her.  Tournament Coordinator Matt Ulinski has short term tasks and bigger jobs where people can get involved (the tournament raises money for all of TGHA altho the games are played by our three travel teams and 21 other teams from as near by as Binghamton and as far away as Colorado and Ontario, Canada!).

Cornell Player in the News

Follow Rebecca Johnson of the Cornell women's hockey team.  She received ECACHL honors for her outstanding play vs. Vermont last week.  Yet, next week she will be representing Canada in the Four Nations Cup being played in Lake Placidwww.cornell.edu

Thanks re Open House

Thanks to all the TGHA Board members and to Becky Waddle Cameron and Tony Eisenhut who lead the on-ice activities on Monday with help from girls from the 12U, 14U and 19U teams.  It was a great crowd of 50 girls from across our association (which numbers close to 100 when everyone is registered) who had the chance to meet and have fun together!

It's Not Too Late

TGHA has 'rolling registration' for Initiation and House through the first weeks of the season.  We also register girls who join for half season starting at the beginning of January.  Let us know what we can do to help interested girls get the equipment they need and the paperwork that is necessary to participate.

Registrar Cathy Long will be at Monday's RINK practice Nov. 3 or she can be reached via cel3@cornell.edu with questions.

Photo Nights

Forms will soon be distributed for TGHA's two Photo Nights with a professional photographer who does individual and group shots in time for holiday cards/gifts.  Sunset Photo will be with us Mon Nov 10 and Tues Nov 11.  Thursday only girls are welcome to come on Nov 10 (or there will be another session in January on a Thursday for those who miss these dates).

Note: new jerseys will not be available by Nov. 10 for Initiation and House girls who don't have one from last year.  We will have some available to borrow for the photos.

TGHA 2008 gimme! COFFEE FUNDRAISER

Player Order Packets are being distributed Oct. 30 and Nov. 3

Here's how it works:

gimme! Coffee’s gourmet coffee beans come in 1 pound bags which we sell at gimme! retail prices. The cost to TGHA is their wholesale price. TGHA keeps the difference… our fundraising potential is GREAT!!! Ten varieties have been selected from previous season’s top selling roasts.

Players receive an order packet from team managers (or fundraising contact person for your team or for Initiation/House) or download extra forms from the web at: www.ithacagirlshockey.com.

Players collect orders and return the order summary sheet and payment to team managers by the following dates:

First Order – for Thanksgiving:
Orders in by Monday, Nov 10, coffee delivered Monday, Nov 17
(In time for Thanksgiving gifts)

Second Order – for Winter Holidays:
Orders in by Monday, Dec 1, coffee delivered Monday, Dec 8
(In time for the winter holidays)

***Payment is due when the order is placed. Checks made payable to: TGHA. When you are preparing your coffee order form, please put the player's team and name on the order forms.   Coffee will be delivered the following Monday or Tuesday at practice.

It is important that every player contribute to our fundraising effort.  TGHA strives to keep our fees as low as possible, and relies on fundraising to cover some of our costs as well as provide player scholarships and equipment for loan.

Prizes awarded to the top 3 sellers in the association.

Thank you,
2008 TGHA gimme! Coffee Fundraiser Coordinators

Liz Wood and Barbara Horton

PS We don't have a lot of other fundraisers during the season.  This one is a mainstay since coffee is such a popular item and makes great gifts!
