Everyone Registers with USA Hockey Online

The very first step for all players (and all coaches) who are going to be members of Tompkins Girls Hockey Association (TGHA) this year is to register with USA Hockey using the online process.  This is mandatory before anyone goes on the ice for their first time of the season whether that is for this weekend's Team Formation sessions or for preseason ice times (TBA mostly for Travel in September but will also include Initiation and House sometimes in October).  Go to www.usahockey.com and see the box on the right for Register Here. Print the copy of the registration confirmation receipt and present with other TGHA registration forms found on our web site:  www.ithacagirlshockey.com.  Thank you!

Sunday is Registration Day

Sunday Sept. 14

The RINK

Annually IYHA (Ithaca Youth Hockey Association) and TGHA hold a September Registration event where families can get information about the upcoming season.
It is a great time for continuing members to do their registration steps and for new members to sign up, yet there will be future opportunities, too (see below). Find out about hockey equipment needs, available equipment for loan, fees to play, scholarships/financial aid, and the season schedule.

The season practice schedule concludes March 9 week.

Who wants to play Recreation?

After girls play in Initiation and House when they are elementary and middle school age, many join Travel Teams (and/or play for Ithaca High School girls varsity).  But others prefer to play in what TGHA has called Recreation.  Last year this group had an hour ice time on Thursdays at Cass Park.  While there were six or so older middle school/high school girls registered for Recreation, some adult women who are learning to play would participate, too.  Karen Uber, Cornell senior who grew up playing hockey with TGHA, coached Recreation for 2007-08 season.

Even though it's not necessary to register yet for Recreation, it would help TGHA's Board to know who wants to play Recreation for 2008-09.  Is that you?  Please reply NOW at TGHA0809@yahoo.com or call Kathey MacQueen, VP House, 387-4117.  Thank you!
