Tompkins Girls Hockey Association (TGHA) will hold player evaluations on Saturday, April 25 at The RINK on East Shore Drive in Lansing for new and returning skaters interested in joining a Travel Team for the 2009-2010 season (October-March). Players may receive skill assessments, and preliminary team rosters will be assembled.  A third team formation session will be held in September to accommodate newcomers; final rosters will be set then.

Ithaca Shooting Stars teams at the 12U, 14U, 16U and 19U age levels will compete at the Tier 2 level.  USA Hockey has announced that the 2009-2010 season will culminate with the first ever national championship tournament at the Tier 2 level.

Interested players should pre-register for the April 25 sessions by April 22 by contacting Vice President Travel John Golay, 272-8916, or President David Herrick, 277-1414. Further information including the time schedule on April 25 is available from them as well as at www.ithacagirlshockey.com

Summer Hockey Announced

TGHA is sponsoring an exciting summer hockey program that will help improve your skating, skill development and game fundamentals just in time for the upcoming season. There will be six evening sessions offered during July and August for all girl hockey players registered with USA Hockey. The ice time will be split based on age and ability so that each participant is offered appropriate level practice and scrimmage opportunities.

The House session should be a good fit for our Initiation and beginning House or Recreation level skaters. We will focus on basic skating technique, puck handling and of course fun games.

For the Travel team and advanced House skaters, our Travel team Coaches will offer some higher intensity and physically challenging skating drills together with practice to improve your puck control and shooting skills.

It will be big help to know before the first session who can attend full time as well as those of you who will be dropping in for one or several sessions. Send an email to the registration address: skemuck@yahoo.com  to let us know of your interest and schedule. Spread the word to others you know who might be interested in participating in one session or the entire series!
