New Process for Travel Team Formation Sessions

TGHA will hold player evaluations on Saturday, April 25th at The RINK in Lansing,
New York for new and returning skaters interested in joining a Travel Team in the
2009-2010 Season. The Board has acknowledged that there are advantages to offering
these evaluations sooner, rather than waiting until fall registration:

Players can receive constructive assessments of their skills in time for spring and
summer hockey programs.

TGHA can attract new players from non-local areas.

TGHA can better prepare the season ice schedule to meet travel team needs and
minimize unnecessary expense.

Travel Teams can organize their social and off-ice activities during the summer.
Team account fund raising could also occur during the off-season.

We understand that this schedule may conflict with other spring sports/activities.
Current TGHA travel team players planning to return next season should communicate
with John Golay, Vice President for Travel, if you cannot attend because of a conf
lict. Preliminary rosters will be developed after April 25th but there will be room
for additional players who approach TGHA before the final evaluation session to be
held on September 12, 2009 (times TBD). Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thank you.

TGHA Announces 2009-2010 Player Evaluations

TGHA will hold player evaluations on Saturday, April 25th at The RINK in Lansing,
New York for new and returning skaters interested in joining a Travel Team in the
2009-2010 Season. TGHA remains committed to supporting our players’ joy of the game
by fostering and developing competitive travel teams. It is our goal to form teams
at four age divisions: 12 and Under (12U), 14U, 16U and 19U. State Tournament Bound
status for each team is expected to be Tier II, but is ultimately determined by the
team and association in the fall. For the first time, USA Hockey’s 2010 National
Championships will include Girls Tier II divisions.

Players are encouraged to attend and participate in one or both sessions for the age
division that corresponds with their birth date. The cost of each 1 hour session is
$10 per skater. Head Coaches will be conducting drills to assess each player’s
skating and hockey skill level and can be available after-wards to talk with a play
er or parent. Registration with TGHA is not required at this time, however all
skaters on the ice must be registered with USA Hockey for the 2008-09 season.

Session 1:        10:00 AM to 11:00 AM                       12U and 14U

                        11:00 AM to 12:00 PM                        16U and 19U

Session 2:        5:45 PM to 6:45 PM                 12U and 14U

                        6:45 PM to 7:45 PM                 16U and 19U

It is understood that this schedule may conflict with other spring
sports/activities. Current TGHA travel team players planning to return next season
should communicate with John Golay, Vice President for Travel, if you cannot attend
because of a conflict. Players new to TGHA who registered and skated with another
association this past season will need to provide a signed release from their
current associ-ation’s president. The form can be downloaded from the Forms section
of the NYSAHA web site at http://www.usahockey.com/new_york/. It can be presented o
n April 25th or faxed in advance to David Herrick at (607)273-6322.

All skaters participating in Sessions 1 and/or 2 should RSVP to John Golay, Vice
President for Travel by Wednesday, April 22nd. Questions regarding the evaluation
sessions can be directed to David Herrick, Co-President. Thank you.

Preliminary rosters will be developed after April 25th but there will be room for
additional players who approach TGHA before the final evaluation session to be held
on September 12, 2009 (times TBD).  Players may be moved to another roster based on
their skill development over the summer, and other factors determined by the coaches
and association. Final Travel Team formation decisions will be made and communicated
to players following this session. Pre-season practices will begin the week of
September 14, 2009.
