Attend Tuesday Ithaca School Board Meeting

Sunday there was a meeting of coaches, parents and players connected with the Ithaca High Girls Varsity Hockey team, and they would like the following message to reach all current, future and former female hockey players in our community (spread the word!).

All girls and parents who live in the Ithaca City School District are encouraged to express to the Ithaca Board of Education that the Ithaca High Girls Varsity Team should not be eliminated as proposed at this time; the team should face the same reductions in funding as other varsity sports.

This message can be sent by email, phone or letter to members of the school board (contact information and details about the budget proposals are found at www.icsd.k12.ny.us). It can also be sent to the area media in the form of a Letter to the Editor.

On Tuesday March 24 the school board begins its meeting with 'public delegation' time starting at  7 p.m. in the Ithaca High Cafeteria.  Six speakers will speak asking for the team to be maintained.  Everyone else in favor of the team will stand when they speak to show support.  Coach Zarach will have about 50 team jerseys for supporters to wear when at the meeting and others will wear red or will wear team sweatshirts, jackets, etc. (There may be another time to speak on April 6 or 7.)

Note: Lansing girls were able to play with the Ithaca High team this year, and there may be girls from other Tompkins County schools playing for IHS in the future. 

Cub Club at Lynah on Wednesday

All Cub Club members and others from Initiation and House are invited to skate with the Cornell women's hockey team this Wed March 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Lynah Rink.  Wear full gear like your own practice, and try to be ready to go on the ice at 6:30 p.m. There are locker rooms available as well as the bench under the scoreboard for dressing.
