Help!

TGHA's equipment loan closet is low on some important items....especially since we plan to welcome visitors on Jan. 5 and some new beginning members for the second half of the season!

Please look to see if you have any TGHA loaner equipment in your home that is no longer in use, or if you have any of your own gear that is no longer in use and you are willing to donate. Donations can be dropped off in Rick's Room at The RINK whenever you are in that area, or contact me by email or cell phone 280-4380 to schedule pickup (or dropoff at another location).

We especially need HELMETS and GLOVES and ELBOW PADS and STICKS.

Thanks for your help with our efforts to encourage more girls to experience the great sport of ice hockey!

Encourage Others to Join TGHA

Download the attached puck handout; cut it out and give to friends to invite them to Monday Jan. 5 at 6:00 p.m. event.

TGHA is seeking girls who are interested in learning how to play ice hockey, and offers

January 2009 open enrollment for its entry level Initiation hockey for beginners of any age.

Girls who are interested in finding out more about Initiation hockey are invited to attend TGHA’s “Bring a Friend to Practice Night” on January 5, 2008 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at The RINK. (For more information about registration, used equipment loans, and scholarships, call 280-4380 or email TGHA0809@yahoo.com.  Further details about these programs as well as registration with USA Hockey can also be found at www.ithacagirlshockey.com

Initiation program players receive lessons in skating and hockey skills and play games at the beginner level on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. at The RINK and/or Thursdays at 5:15 p.m. at Cass Park Rink.  Girls may choose to attend the program one day per week, or for both sessions each week.  Coaches emphasize having fun while safely learning the fundamentals of the game of ice hockey. The Initiation program is open to girls ages 4 and up.  Girls can advance to TGHA’s House program whenever they are deemed ready by the trained coaching staff. The season ends in early March; half season fees are available.

When is "Second Half" of Season?

The "Second Half" is approximate since not everyone begins playing at the start of "Regular Season".  The second week of January or so is a good midpoint.....for newcomers to join, and for "first half" members to renew or conclude for the year.

$150 (Half Time, 2 days a week from Jan-March)

$90 (Quarter Time, 1 day/week from Jan-March)

Other variations (prorated fees) must be OKed by the Registrar Cathy Long, cel3@cornell.edu.

 Attention Thursday Only Members

Girls who are half-time only on Thursdays are welcome to skate on Mondays during this holiday time when there are no Thursday ice times---especially 1/05 (bring a friend!).

Coaches Becky and Beth recommend lightweight gloves inside of hockey gloves, warm socks or two pairs of lightweight ones, scull cap style hats under helmets, and layers of clothing under their hockey pants and jerseys.  If it's more comfortable to wear a winter coat that fits over pads and pants then that is fine, too.  Jerseys are not required, but padded safety equipment is! They will keep the girls moving as best they can, and will take warmup breaks when/if we have sub zero or low wind chill nights this winter.
