Home Game

The only home game this weekend is Sunday 12/23 at 11:00 am at Cass Park:

Ithaca 19U vs. Ithaca Sirens

Good luck to the 14Us on a road trip to the Capital Region and to the IHS Girls playing at Lake Placid and Saranac Lake

Practices

No Monday or Tuesday practices for two weeks (no 12/24 or 25, 12/31 or 1/1). Both rinks will be having public skating if the girls want to show their families and friends how much they have learned this year.

Thursdays continue regular schedule.  If a coach decides to use less than their regular slot, they should notify the other TGHA coaches so that ice is utilized in the best manner possible.

"Monday only" Initiation players are welcome to skate on Thursdays (12/27 and 1/3) during this holiday time!

Monday January 7

Bring a Friend to Hockey

The TGHA leadership and coaches will be on hand Monday January 7 for the 6:00-7:00 p.m. time slot at The RINK.  Initiation (and House and Recreation) girls are encouraged to bring newcomers at any time of the year, but this night will be an especially easy one for beginners to be welcomed. During this time slot, we will have the NYSAHA equipment available for use that day for newcomers, and the TGHA equipment is accessible for those we plan to sign up for Half Season for Initiation, House or Recreation.

Half Season Initiation for 2008

This date also represents the mid-point of the season so girls who are signed up for the first half of the season can sign up for the second half for $60.  See VP House Karen Muckstadt to tell her your plans.  Checks can be given to Karen or mailed to TGHA, PO Box 3962, Ithaca, NY 14852.

Update on IYHA Recreation Hockey

Greetings Hockey families (IYHA and TGHA)

I am contacting you because I just volunteered to coordinate Recreation Hockey.  Thanks to Rick Kuhar and Chris Camadella for getting the program off the ground this season due to Joe Sullivan's retirement.

I invite all middle school and high school-age players to skate in this fun-oriented, weekly program.  If your child stopped playing team hockey in recent years, they would probably love to rediscover the joys of getting out on the ice again.

Rec hockey involves no checking or slap shots and is open to skaters of all abilities.  Ice times are Mondays from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. at Cass Park. Every game is refereed.  You can show up and play when you want.  There are no practices.

Players can join the program for a pro-rata fee of only $140.00.

I especially invite players to walk on and give the program a try for only $15.00 per ice time.

I am open to suggestion regarding this program, so please email me or call me at 273 3388 (o) if you have any compliments, complaints or questions.

Cheers,

Walter Hang

USA Hockey Women’s Holiday Camp Set to Begin

Fifty-Six Players to Train in Lake Placid, N.Y., from Dec. 26-Jan. 1

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey will host 56 of the best female hockey players in the country during its annual Holiday Camp, set for Dec. 26 - Jan. 1 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The training camp serves as a tryout and training session for the U.S. Women's National Team and U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team, both of which participate in world championships in the early part of 2008.

The players will be split into three teams for daily practices and scrimmages. One squad, Team White, will include the 22 players vying for one of 20 spots on the 2008 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team for the first-ever International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's Under-18 Championship, to be held from Jan. 7-12 in Calgary, Alta.

The other two teams, Red and Blue, will include a total of 34 players who will be looking to earn their way onto the U.S. contingent for the 2008 IIHF World Women's Championship, which runs from April 4-12 in Harbin, China.

NOTES: The roster, originally released on Nov. 1, includes two changes - the University of Minnesota's Jen Schoullis (Girard, Pa.) and the University of Wisconsin's Hilary Knight (Hanover, N.H.) replaced Kristin King (Piqua, Ohio) and Meghan Duggan (Danvers, Mass.) ... Red, White and Blue rosters can be found on usahockey.com ... All scrimmages at the camp will include 15-minute periods ... The 2008 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team will be announced on Jan. 2 ... Included on the camp roster are 20 of the 22 players who competed with the 2007 U.S. Women’s Select Team at the Four Nations Cup in November. In addition, nine have played in at least one Olympic Winter Games ... The coaching staff for the U.S. Women’s National Team during the 2007-08 season – Head Coach Jackie Barto (Lewis Center, Ohio), Assistant Coaches Paul Flanagan (Canton, N.Y.) and Kevin Houle (Morrisonville, N.Y.), Goaltending Consultant Dave Flint (Merrimack, N.H.) and Strength & Conditioning Coach Teena Murray (Louisville, Ky.) – will work in conjunction with the coaching staff for the 2008 U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team – Head Coach Katey Stone (Arlington, Mass.) and Assistant Coaches Erin Whitten Hamlen (Hampton, N.H.) and Bob Deraney (Shrewsbury, Mass.) – at the training camp.
