Happy Thanksgiving

We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday this week!

At this time of giving thanks, it is good to remember that every one of our coaches is a volunteer. Players and parents can show their thanks to these great people and to TGHA every week with their cooperation on and off ice, but they can also plan special gestures of thanks as individuals or as teams.

THANKS to Vicky, Lita, John, Steve, Pete, Brittany, Matt, Madeline, Karen, Joy, Diane, Joel, Ed, Beth, Becky, Maya, Dave, Tony, Karen, Dave, Chris, John, Dave, Mike, Ron, and anyone else who has recently become a coach for one of TGHA's teams.

Share the Warmth

Rotary Clubs in Ithaca are collecting new and lightly used winter outer-wear through Dec. 2 for distribution to local families.  There is a large wood crate in the lobby of The RINK marked "Share the Warmth".  Children's clothing (coats, hats, snowpants, gloves, boots) are especially sought.  Consider helping this campaign when you are at The RINK before Dec. 2.  (Note: teams visiting Ithaca for the tournament are also being asked to participate if they can.)

Thanks NYSAHA

While we are giving thanks, put New York State Amateur Hockey Association (NYSAHA) on your list!  NYSAHA purchased the 40 sets of hockey equipment that is available for use by associations like TGHA when we run events like Try Girls Hockey and Put the Biscuit in the Net. The equipment is in large bags in our storage area and it travels around NYS in a small trailer that The RINK is storing for us until the next users come and get it. (We also give thanks for Carol Mullins and Jean Goodwin for helping us get it from an Albany hockey program in October.)

Tournament Volunteers

Preparations are underway for the Ithaca Shooting Stars Invitational Tournament, November 30-December 2.  The game schedule is on our web site under Tournaments at www.ithacagirlshockey.com (and on the home page if you scroll down to the link), but there will be great spectating almost all the time at The RINK Friday at 1:00 through Sunday morning, and at many hours at Cass Park.  Championship games will be at Lynah Rink on Sunday at 8:30, 9:55, 11:35, and 1:15.  Scores will be posted during the weekend if you want to see how the Ithaca teams are doing.

The RINK lobby will feature raffle baskets with many great items donated by Shooting Stars families and our friends and sponsors.  Anyone in TGHA can buy chances to win as well will our guests from the 21 out of town girls hockey teams coming to town.  Chuck a Puck will be played between the 2nd and 3rd period of each RINK game, too--if you don't know what it is, all the more reason to come and play!  There is NO admission to spectate, but the tournament program will be on sale.

TGHA parents are requested to fill many volunteer slots during the weekend.  The three travel team parents are filling most of them, but there will be some openings which can be filled by other parents and by TGHA alumni (over 18 players or player parents). The remaining openings will be announced in a TGHA All message next week, but if you know when you'd like to help, contact Matt Ulinski at mattulinski@verizon.net, 257-5600.

Thanks for helping!

Coffee Orders

The first round of coffee orders were delivered on Monday and Tuesday; thanks Barbara Horton!

There's two weeks until the next orders are due--December 4.  Forms can be downloaded from the web (scroll down the home page content) and handed in before December 4 (VP House Karen has some copies of the forms and can collect at Initiation/House/Recreation practices, Travel Team managers or other volunteers will collect for them.) for delivery for use at the holidays or to use as gifts.  TGHA receives $3.50 for every bag sold.
