35th Anniversary
It was this Saturday
morning 35 years ago that
Girls today will say it’s
their favorite of the local rinks for the hard ice surface (when it’s cold!)
but maybe not for the wind (not only what they produce when skating fast but
from the weather!). How can parents complain when we can hold our hot
cocoas and tighten scarves around our necks?!
TGHA has enjoyed a long
strong relationship with the City of
Women Invited to Recreation
Thursdays from 6:45-7:45
p.m. at Cass is reserved for Recreation girls hockey program. At this
time there are less than a half dozen girls skating so we would like to bring
some additional females onto the ice for the Recreation girls to skate
with, and maybe more will join if they see the fun! (Shooting Stars alumna and
Cornellian Karen Uber has been on the ice twice, and Coach Joy Verranou of the
Ithaca Sirens, too!)
Beginner women are invited
to skate during this hour. Barbara Horton has offered to teach the
beginners. Recreation girls will assist if they wish.
More experienced women who
would like to skate for skill development and recreational scrimmages may also
skate during TGHA Recreation.
Women (who must be
registered with USA Hockey) will be charged $10 per session they attend, and
they are asked to rsvp by noon each Thursday to tgha0708@yahoo.com.
We want to make sure the number of skaters and coaches is appropriate at
all times.
Questions? Direct to
Mary until we find someone else to be ‘registrar’ for Recreation.
Apparel Orders
Thanks to everyone who has
returned their apparel order forms. Judy Yonkin will be compiling all the
orders this weekend. If you need to reach her, see the web site for her contact
info. She is also willing to do another order after the holidays (due
Jan. 10; forms available Jan. 3 but also on the web site).
Coffee Orders
Barbara Horton thanks
everyone who ordered this week for delivery next Monday and Tuesday.
Coffee from Gimme is a great way to raise funds to support TGHA while making a
high quality purchase of a necessary kitchen supply (and one that you may need
more of during the holidays as well as during the busy hockey season!). Order
forms can be downloaded from the web site or Barbara can help you with the
order process, homesweethome@fltg.net.
The orders for winter holidays delivery are due on December 4. TGHA
receives $3.50 for each $12.00 bag sold.
Coaching Clinic for Certification Available
If you are interested in
becoming a certified USA Hockey coach (a must for helping on ice with TGHA
teams), consider attending the Level 1 clinic in
http://old.usahockey.com/coaching/clinics/main/coaching_clinics/coachclinics/
