Mullins Relocates
This week Carol
Mullins will relocate to her home state of
Never fear
hockey will still be a big part of her life as she will be near many colleges
with women's hockey teams so should be able to referee even more games with the
same or less driving than she did from
Carol can still
be reached cwestmullins@
She didn't want
to have the TGHA Banquet focus be on her instead of on
the girls and coaches and sponsors, but the Board did honor her with gifts (a
TGHA backpack stuffed full with various items) and refreshments at the June
meeting. We were very glad she was still with us for the July meeting,
too. At that time, we each gave a brief tribute expressing our favorite
things we'll remember----
"Pepsodent smile"
Turning on many
girls and women to "The Game"
Unwavering sense
of humor and joy while commanding respect on the ice
Sometimes her
practices were "brutal" said one adult hockey player
Contagious
energy
Yellow helmet
like a Shooting Star
Shiny black
helmet when in her referee stripes
Support for
women as well as girls
Focus on the
best for the players
Inspirational to
coaches, too
Knowing all the
youngest girls's names (and their parents)
Offering our
first parent education program with balance
Her everpresent smile
When asked
why she has given so much as a volunteer without
children in the program?
Carol explained
that her parents were always very involved with the community so she wanted to
be like them and give back. She wants to honor those who have given her
so many opportunities with The Game. Her best ever
hockey experiences on ice have been in these years with TGHA.
THANKS Carol
for this inspiration and for everything you've given to TGHA!

The next message
that will follow this one is a resource about the 35th Anniversary of Title
IX....with links to 35 stories!
It's a different
format so it may not come through all servers and computers; let me know if you
don't get it and would like it sent to your email address directly.
