Tonight's
TGHA Board Meeting has been changed to Thursday April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Cayuga Heights Fire Station Community Room. All welcome to attend.
Nominate Cub Club "
Each year
the Cornell womens hockey team selects one of our big sisters as the Cub Club
Mentor of the year. Do you think your big sister is a great mentor? Does she go
above and beyond what you expected? Tell us about her so she can get the
recognition she deserves. If you want to sing her praises to everybody feel
free to post it to the group. If you would rather do it quietly just drop me an
email at wmw9@cornell.edu. Submissions must be in by March 11th. If you have

Congrats to 16U Shooting Stars
During
the March 6-9 weekend, the
The 14Us
participated as the one representative of Central Section after winning that
title two weeks ago. When they faced the
Hamburg Hawks, Angela Everhart stopped 16 shots in a 2-1 loss. Meredith Kirk scored the lone goal assisted
by Catherine Watkins. They were also defeated by the North Country Ice Storm,
3-1. Carrie Wilder scored unassisted while Everhart made 36 saves. In a game
that was called in the third period when the winter storm caused a power
outage,
The 16U
Shooting Stars finished in second place in
Their
three wins included one shutout game by each goalie: Sarah Eisenhut in the 2-0
victory over the Suffolk PAL team and Annabelle Jones in a 1-0 victory over the
Wheatfield Blades. Against Suffok, Janesa Cornish scored from Katie Long, as
did Lauren Cole from Emily Eisenhut and Emma Hassen. Long scored the lone goal over Wheatfield
assisted by Melissa Ash. Jones stopped 20 shots in the 4-1 victory over the
West Seneca Wings. Cornish scored two in this contest assisted by Cole. Sarah
Eisenhut skating as a forward scored from Kathryn Luschwitz, and Erin Grainger
scored unassisted.

Community News: Prom Dress
Exchange
Tompkins
County Solid Waste Management Division (TCSWMD) is currently seeking volunteers
to help with an upcoming Formal & Prom Gown Exchange on April 4 and 5 at
the Ithaca Mall (formerly Pyramid).
To make
this event a success, we are seeking volunteers on:
-April 4
from 3 to 8 pm to help run the event,
-April 5
from 11 am to 4 pm to help run the event, and
-April 5
from 4 to 5:30 pm to help clean-up.
Please
note that due to the nature of the Formal & Prom Gown exchange, we are
looking for only female volunteers. Individuals are welcome to volunteer for a
full day, but can also sign-up for a shorter shift.

Formal
& Prom Gown Exchange - overview
The
Formal & Prom Gown Exchange is in its second year and will take place at
the Ithaca Mall on April 4 & 5. The goal of this event is to reduce and
reuse formal and prom gown dress waste throughout
Students
as well as residents in and around
sister2sister--for middle school
girl participants, for high school girl leaders
Below is
information about an annual event for middle school girls.
About two
dozen high schoolers are also needed to serve as 'mentors' leading small
groups. There is training provided March
24 or 26. High schoolers should respond
to s2sithaca@yahoo.com or call 280-4380.
Event for Middle School Girls
March 29
On
Saturday March 29, middle school girls from throughout the
Girls who
participated in the past events reported that they had a lot of fun while they
were doing the interesting and inspirational activities. This year's sister2sister theme is “Girls
Growing Up Green”. It will run from 9:30
a.m.-3:30 p.m.
After
hearing a presentation by biologist and author Sandra Steingraber: “Living
Downstream-Saving the Environment, Saving Ourselves”, high school age girls
will guide the middle school girls as they rotate to several small group
activities. Local professionals oriented
the high school mentors for their role.
There
will be a lunch break and the "Love Your Body Fair". It will feature
such things as hair braiding, massage, face-painting and information on healthy
lifestyles. Afterwards, more small group and large group activities are planned
on the theme including refashioning t-shirts.
The
American Association of University Women and the Women’s
Girls and
parents who want to inquire about the program and registration can check with
their school guidance office.
Information is also available at the Women's
Adults
can also contact the sister2sister organizing committee to volunteer to be
involved or to offer financial support of the program. A free morning segment for adults (parents,
teachers, counselors, friends) will also be offered.
