News from the TGHA Board Meeting
The Registrars submitted a report that TGHA registration is at 91 girls and 3 adult women (Recreation members) as of 11/4/03! This is great as we also know there will be some more joining as the season is just beginning. Highlights:
27 are brand new to TGHA--Welcome!
14 are in Initiation
9 are in House, and participate with the 13 on the 12U team
17 are on 14U team, 14 on 16U team, and 18 on 19U team
6 girls and 3 adults are signed up for Recreation to date
Next Board Meeting: Wed. Dec. 3 at 7:00 p.m. at The RINK
Sign up for Recreation if you are....
*A girl who has skated with TGHA in the past but don't have time for a large commitment...skate on Mondays 9-10 p.m.at The RINK for fitness and fun!
*A girl who is skating with IHS varsity and would like another workout and skills session with coaches like Carol Mullins and Kelly Pike as well as Maddy Russell and Larry Chase!
*A mom who has thought about learning to play hockey and have some of the fun our daughters have!
*PLUS Recreation ice times will also be open for adult and older teen women on a drop-in basis for $10 per session. Participants must be registered with USA Hockey and be wearing full hockey equipment to join in.

Holiday Decorations Sale to Support IHS Boys Hockey Team:
The IHS Boys Varsity Hockey Team is selling holiday wreaths and centerpieces as part of their annual fundraising effort. Wreaths (pictures will be at Cass and RINK this week)are extremely fresh and full douglas fir, tastefully decorated with pinecones, ribbons, bows and berries, and last for a very long time. They have an outer diameter of approximately 22 inches and can be purchased with your choice of red, white, gold or red and green plaid ribbon.Centerpieces are also extremely fresh and tastefully decorated with pinecones, ribbons, bows, berries and two candles. They have an outer diameter of approximately 16 inches and are available with the following ribbon/candle color choices: red/red; plaid/red; gold/white; or white/white.
Wreaths and centerpieces sell for $20 each. Wreath orders must be submitted by Thursday, November 13th and will be available for pick-up or delivery the week of November 23rd.Centerpiece orders must be submitted by Tuesday, December 9th and will be available for pick-up or delivery the week of December 21st.To place an order, please send email to Beth Farr (mom of 14U Emily and IHS Ben!) or contact any IHS Varsity Hockey Team member: bfarr@twcny.rr.com, 273-4125. Spaghetti Supper to Support IYHA Team:
The Ithaca Youth Hockey Association's "Squirt Travel" players invite the community to a benefit spaghetti supper, "S'getti with the Squirts" - to be held at the Eagles Club, 711 W. Clinton St (behind Wegmans, off Cecil Malone Dr). Dinner will be served on Monday night, November 10, from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Cost for adults is $6, children and seniors $4. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information or presale tickets, call 272-9116. The proceeds will support the Squirt Travel ice hockey team, ages 9-10, and help defray the cost of tournaments and events. The team is the defending New York State Champion in Tier II Squirt hockey, and is coached by Tom Addy.
Neck Guards are worn for safety during ice hockey practices and games....
Mouthguards and approved helmets are required by USA Hockey for obvious reasons but there are no regulalations about the wearing of neck guards and pelvic protectors. The TGHA board discussed the increased safety they provide and decided to forward this message to everyone. 19U Coach John Uber wrote it for his team and team parents to advise them. Questions? Neck Guards - USA Hockey does not require neckguards, but encourages their use. This is the parents' call.
