Registration
Registrar Richard Goldstein has updated the registration forms for
the upcoming 2005-06 season. Blank forms can be downloaded from
the web site
www.ithacagirlshockey.com and completed and returned by
mail to him. However he will be printing personalized forms (data
from last season preprinted) for all continuing members. These
will be available at Registration Day and Open House and at travel
team tryouts.
TGHA and IYHA will be registering continuing and new members at
the annual Registration Day scheduled for 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at
The RINK. Everyone needs to be registered for going on the ice for
the first time this season whether it be for tryouts or for
preseason ice offerings or for regular season in October. There
will not be a used equipment sale this year.
Information about TGHA scholarships and payment by installments
can be obtained from Richard.
Newcomers who are seeking information about TGHA are being
directed to contact Wendy Bakal at
wendyb@twcny.rr.com,
256-0669.
Spread the Word
The best way for TGHA to get information to prospective new
members is through the current members! Please share your
enthusiasm for the sport of ice hockey and for your experience
with TGHA! Let your friends, neighbors and relatives (or
strangers you meet on the street!) know about TGHA and how to sign
up for this season.
Also send their email addresses to Wendy or to Mary Grainger so
they can begin to get the weekly TGHA Updates! Tell them it's a
way to be informed about the sport and other girls athletics news
as well as about TGHA.
This year we are seeking a contact person for each elementary
school who can help hang posters and distribute fliers. If you
are willing, reply to this message with your school name. Thank
you!
Equipment Donations Sought
TGHA maintains a supply of used ice hockey equipment that an be
loaned by newcomers and continuing members. However, this depends
on three things:
1. If you have equipment at your home that no longer fits your
family members, please donate it to TGHA today. Contact Lisa and
Rich McCutcheon at 257-0054.
2. If you loaned equipment last year, please return it asap to the
McCutcheons if you are not using it this coming season. You can
look at what is available for new loans as needed, too.
3. Lisa and Rich and their girls! We are very lucky that the
equipment loan is housed with the McCutcheons--THANKS!
Teams and Programs
TGHA will be offering Initiation for elementary school age
beginners, House for girls who have skated in Initiation, and
three Ithaca Shooting Stars travel teams this year: 19U, 16U and
12U. Girls who are no longer able to play House but are not
interested in travel teams will also be accommodated on a
case-by-case basis.
Regular Season Schedule
Below is the tentative regular season ice schedule. If changes are
necessary they will be announced by email and at the first
practices. A "Preseason" ice schedule will soon be announced with
some ice times for girls in Initiation and House as well as the
travel teams.

2005-06 Fees
The TGHA Board has been meeting all summer to plan for the
season. Setting a realistic budget and reasonable fees for our
teams and programs is a high priority. President Carol Mullins
will soon send a message explaining more about the philosophy
behind this year's fee structure and necessary fund raising to
live within the budget while keeping fees at the levels we think
are most reasonable in order to encourage more girls to play ice
hockey.
Fees include USA Hockey registration (and the annual subscription
to American Hockey Magazine) and are set to cover the cost of ice
use of each team and program. Fees do not include $75 that can be
earned back in fundraising this year. Everyone will be needed to
participate in fundraising in order for the budget income to be
raised, and travel teams will have specific goals specifically to
cover their tournament expenses.
Initiation
Full season full time (twice a week) $150
Full season half time $100
Half season full time $100
Half season half time $75
House $200
Recreation To be determined on a case by case basis depending on
ice use
12U Travel $825
16U Travel $875
19U Travel $975
Coaches and Tryouts
Initiation and House coaches will soon be announced by VP House
Programs Matt Ulinski.
The Board received applications for head coaches for travel teams
through Coaching Coordinator Chris Grippin. Assistant coaches
will be announced by the head coaches.
12U Ron Wilder
16U Tony Eisenhut
19U Chris Grippin
Tryouts for these teams have been scheduled. Girls should attend
the tryout for the team for their age group unless they have
communicated in advance with the coach of a different age group.
All girls *must* be registered with TGHA before skating for a
tryout.
There are a few options for travel girls to register. You may:
1) download and complete registration forms (web site above) and
mail them no later than 9/5 to "TGHA Registration, P.O. Box 3962,
Ithaca, NY 14852,
or
2) bring them to The RINK before your first tryout (plan on
arriving at least 30 minutes before you would normally arrive to
dress),
or
3)come to tryouts about an hour earlier than you would normally,
pick up your preprinted forms (returning travel players), and
complete any additional information needed.
