Wednesday August 25 will be a gathering for players and their families who are interested in the Shooting Stars travel teams for 2004-05 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bartels Hall lobby overlooking Lynah Rink. Watch for future emails about bringing a dish-to-pass for the gathering which will also include announcements about the upcoming season and a chance to ask questions of coaches, managers and board members.  All travel team girls are especially welcomed to come on the ice that evening at 7:00-8:15 p.m. for 12U and 14U age girls, and 7:45-9:00 p.m. for 16U and 19U girls.

More dates:

Sunday September 12 will be the official registration day held in conjunction with IYHA.  September 11 and 12 will be tryouts for the travel teams; times will be announced soon.  Monday October 25 will be a special "Try Girls Hockey" event for girls interested in learning about the sport and getting on the ice in a trial format.  Monday November 1 will be our annual traditional Open House for newcomers and for all continuing skaters and their families.  Fall practices for travel teams and the winter practice schedule for all teams will be announced in early September.

Does your hockey gear needed a professional cleaning?

Maddy Russell and Maureen Cooney of Penalty Box Sports have an arrangement with a business "Clean Gear" in Rochester that cleans equipment (www.clean-gear.com). Actually they clean almost everything, but they specialize in hockey stuff. They have this big machine that has compartments for 8 separate sets of gear.?nbsp; It takes a couple hours to run the gear through the machine, but when the cycle is complete it comes out incredibly clean.?nbsp; The cleaning cycle kills off any smell, germs, bacteria, and even mold.

The arrangement we have with the cleaner is that our store would be a drop-off place.?nbsp; That means people can leave their equipment with us, then the cleaner guy would come down from Rochester, pick it up and then once it was cleaned, bring it back to us.?nbsp; The turnaround takes about 2 days.?nbsp; There is no additional charge for the delivery service.

Here are the costs to get your equipment cleaned:
Set of player's equipment: (pants, shins, elbows, shoulders, gloves) $35
Goalie equipment: (blocker, catcher, chest, pants) $35, with leg pads - $55
Helmets are hand washed separately and cost $8
Skates can also be cleaned for $8
Equipment bags are an additional cost.

They are coming this Wednesday at 10am and will return the equipment on Friday morning.?nbsp; If anyone is interested in getting their equipment cleaned now or has any questions, they can contact us before Wednesday.?nbsp; They can either drop their stuff off at our store on Tuesday or call us to make alternative arrangements to drop off their gear.?nbsp; They can call us at the store at 269-0447 or at home at 277-6010.
