Sign Up for Summer TGHA Wednesdays at Lynah

Wednesday Nights July 7 - August 25
(Group #1 7:00-8:15, Group #2 7:45-9PM)
Lynah Rink, Ithaca, NY

Open to girls ages 10-19 who have played travel or recreation hockey and are interested in improving their skills (power skating, stick handling, etc.)

Players will be placed by age and ability into two groups: Group 1 (8:00-9:15 PM) and Group 2 (8:45-10:00 PM). Head coaches for the sessions are Chris Grippin (TGHA 16U coach) and Larry Cornish (Cortland 14U coach).

Registration cost is $75.00 per player for the eight week session (or $55.00 for four weeks). There are a limited number of openings and they will be filled on a first come basis. To register for the Shooting Stars Summer Hockey Program send a
check (payable to TGHA) to Jeff Scott, 4 Ayla Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. Include player's name, address, phone number, e-mail address, previous team, and date of birth. All participants must be registered with USA Hockey.

Moms and Other Adult Women Sought for Cornell Camp

When: July 19-23, 2004

Where: Lynah Rink at Cornell University, Ithaca NY

Who: The camp is geared towards adult women, ranging in age and skill level, from beginners to others who have been playing for more than 5 years. Each evening there will be an on-ice and off-ice session, varying each night because of the availability of ice this summer. Here's how it looks as of now: Monday, July 19th: on-ice at 6-8pm, off-ice at 8:30-10pm.

Tuesday, July 20th: off-ice at 6:45-8:15pm, on-ice at 8:45-10:45pm.
Wednesday, July 21st: on-ice at 5-6:30pm, off-ice at 7-8:30pm.
Thursday, July 22nd: on-ice at 4-6pm, off-ice at 6:30-8pm.
Friday, July 23rd: scrimmage at 6-8pm, party at 8:30-??

A few of the instructors include myself, Diane Dillon (Cornell women’s ice hockey assistant coach), and a selection of former/current college/pro female hockey players.

The cost is tentatively set at somewhere between $100 and $120, to be determined by costs and the number of participants.

UVM'S Gutterson Fieldhouse to Host USA Women's Hockey Games

BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Gutterson Fieldhouse, the home of the University of Vermont men's and women's ice hockey teams, will host a pair of USA Women's Hockey games this summer.?nbsp; USA Hockey announced the schedules and venues for the 2004 US Women's Under-22 Select Team's three-game exhibition series versus Canada, and the 2004 Women's Four Nations Cup.?nbsp; UVM will host one game in each event, which the USA is hosting. All other games will be held at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The Under-22 Select Team will participate in a three-game series versus Canada from August 25-28.?nbsp; The first two games of the series will be held on August 25 and 26 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid.?nbsp; The final game will be held on August 28 at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

In 2003, the three-game series was held in Kitchner, Ontario with the US winning the best-of-three series, 2-0-1, and defeated Canada for the fist time in the history of the event.?nbsp; The US Women's Under-22 Select Team will be named in early August and will once again compete at the USA Hockey's Women's National Festival in Lake Placid during the week leading up to the three-game exhibition series.

From November 10-14, 2004, the US will host the Four Nations Cup and select teams from Canada, Finland and Sweden will join the US team in Lake Placid for a four-team round-robin tournament, which will be followed by the medal-round.?nbsp; The game between Canada and the United States will be held at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Thursday, November 11 at 7:00pm.

The roster for the 2004 US Women's Select Team will be announced in late September.?nbsp; The US won the gold at the 2003 Four Nations Cup in Skovde, Sweden defeating Canada, 2-1, in a sudden-death shootout.?nbsp; The last time the US and Canada met at Gutterson Fieldhouse was on December 17, 1997 in the first-ever nationally televised women's hockey game.?nbsp; The cable network Lifetime broadcast the game live from Gutterson.

Ben Smith, two-time head coach of the US Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team, will return in the same role for the 2004 Women's Select Team, which will compete in the Four Nations Cup.?nbsp; Smith led the United States to the inaugural women's ice hockey gold medal in the 1998 Olympic Winter Games at Nagano, Japan, and an Olympic silver medal in 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Former Vermont men's hockey head coach Mike Gilligan has served as an assistant to Smith on the 2004 US Women's National Team.?nbsp; Gilligan most recently accompanied the team to the 2004 World Women's Hockey Championships in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tickets to the August 28 Under-22 Select game at Gutterson Fieldhouse will be available beginning in July.?nbsp; Prices at $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 17-and-under, and $4.00 for youth teams.?nbsp; To purchase tickets please call the University of Vermont Athletic Ticket Office at 802-656-4410 or toll-free at 1-866-4CAT-TIX (422-8849).

Tickets to the rest of the Under-22 Select series at Lake Placid will be available starting in June. Ticket prices for all games are as follows: single-game tickets will be $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under-12 and seniors (over 62 years old). A package, which includes tickets to all games, will be available for $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children under-12 and seniors. Tickets to the event can be purchased by calling the Lake Placid Olympic Center box office at 518-523-3330. Tickets will also be available for on-site and game-night purchase.
