Good Luck Friday
USA!

Did you see Angela Ruggiero score the go-ahead goal against Finland on Tuesday?  Some of us in TGHA got to know her a couple of summers ago when she stopped in Ithaca to help coach at the Cornell adult women's hockey clinic.  She came on the ice for a free skate with local girls and shared stories and gave autographs.

Now that
USA won their "pool" they advance to the semi-finals vs. Sweden (#2 in the other pool) at 11:00 a.m. EST and set to be televised live.  Too bad there's school and work, but that's why video and dvr was invented!  If anyone is having trouble viewing the games, let Mary know by replying to this email.

Plans for Feb. 20

Women's bronze medal game, 10:30am-1pm, MSNBC
Women's gold medal final, 2:30pm-5pm, NBC
TGHA has reserved Uncle Joe’s Sports Club for the morning and afternoon so that we may watch the Bronze (10:30 am) and Gold (2:00 pm) medal Olympic Women’s Hockey games LIVE on TV!! There will be refreshments (for a minimal cost), billiards (pool for you youngsters), door prizes and lots of cheering on the
USA!!!!!!   More information will be coming soon!

Parents, players, and supporters of TGHA:

We would like to thank each and everyone of you for your efforts and support in procuring sponsors for Tompkins Girls Hockey Association this season.  This was a joint effort by all the teams of TGHA and we couldn't have done it without you.  To date we have raised over $8,000.00 and it was all due to your efforts and the financial support of the community and businesses. Thank you!

If you happen to be at The RINK or
Cass Park around the dinner hour on Mondays and Thursdays, you will notice that the House and Initiation jerseys recognize our larger donors with visible logos on the back side. You will also get a peek at the bigger picture as you will see 50 girls on the ice doing drills and having fun.  They prove that our efforts are well worth it.  We also can't forget the travel teams - if it wasn't for your support the 12U, 14U and 19U Ithaca Shooting Stars wouldn't have have the opportunity to go to tournaments this season nor advance to the state championships.

The motto for our girls, on and off the ice, continues to be RESPECT, SKILLS, TEAM, GOALS. Our number one priority is to teach hockey and have fun!  We do this with USA Hockey trained coaches, a group of committed parents on the Board of Directors, and many parent volunteers.  The sponsorships help ensure that our girls have good ice times, safe equipment, available scholarships, and tournament fees.

Even though we are nearing the end of the season, there are always opportunities to support TGHA, whether helping out in a 'hands on' way or financially supporting one of the teams - we accept and welcome your support year round.

Thank You!
