Hockey On As Scheduled Today

Unless the roads are closed, the rinks are usually open for business.  If the rinks are open, TGHA practices go on as scheduled since we buy the ice for the season on a contract.  However, each family needs to make their own decisions about safety.  Some of us live on well-travelled and plowed roads and others have more difficult drives to the area rinks. Some TGHA members have different levels of commitment to the sport (travel team coaches expect attendance and a phone call when players miss, but that isn't the expectation for Initiation, House and Recreation programs).  Do what is right for your circumstances but know that TGHA is operating as scheduled today, 1/6/05.

New Year, new clothes!

The pre-holiday order of TGHA clothing has been fully delivered and now, with the New Year, it's time for round 2!  See any items on other players or parents that you like?  I'll be putting in one more order this season and will be at practices over the next couple of weeks to distribute and collect forms, show some samples and answer questions.  I hope to send in the order on Friday, January 21st, so if you still want to order TGHA clothing, there's still time!   Stephanie Herrick, sph1@cornell.edu

Who Can Assist?

The previous TGHA-All message encouraged parents, alumni and older members to assist at TGHA Initiation practices where our newest members can benefit from personal attention, Mondays 5:15-6:15 at The RINK, and Thursdays 5:15-6:16 p.m Cass Park. We need to clarify that USA Hockey registered alumni and current members can assist and need to wear their helmet when assisting.  However, unregistered or trained parents cannot due to insurance coverage.  Yet, the Board discussed that next season we will have a local training session for all parents and friends of TGHA who would like to assist. Watch for news of this next fall during the "preseason". Thanks to all who support our coaches and our newest members (including four who are just joining this month; more newcomers are welcome if they are interested this winter; contact Matt Ulinski, mattulinski@verizon.net, 257-5600).

TGHA Communicates with our Yahoogroup.com Email List

In our internet-oriented world, TGHA saves time and expense by sending most messages to members via this weekly update and other email messages (by team and program, as well as there's a Coach group and Key Leaders group).

Please consider printing yahoogroup messages you receive so the information can be viewed and shared with the girls and others in your household who don't read the messages on the computer screen!

Once you are subscribed and receive yahoogroups email, you can change your address yourself by going to the
www.yahoogroups.com web site.  You can also unsubscribe and you can access the Message Archives here.

Contact Mary Grainger to get on the TGHA email list or if you have difficulty updating your addresses. Send your email address to mmgithaca@aol.com.  We do mail to persons who do not have email at home; phone 257-3268.

Some with <cornell.edu> addresses have experienced "slow downs" with some emails.  TGHA is happy to have more than one address per family if you have alternative addresses that can work if one server is sluggish or not working. One of the reasons we use yahoogroups.com for email distribution is that you can manage your own email.  Once you are added as a "member", you can change your address or your mail format on your own.

"Sign in" with your own yahoo.com password and you can access the Message Archive and other features. While there are ads on the yahoogroups.com web site, our list is private for our group members so you won't be getting unsolicited mail (commercial or non-commercial).
