Ithaca
14U and 19U Teams See New Year's Action
During the first weekend of 2009, the 14U and 19U Ithaca Shooting Stars girls hockey teams were active at home and on the
road. The 14Us were defeated by Camillus Cougars 14U and Binghamton
Blizzard 16U, and the 19Us split two road games with the Oswego 19U girls
team.
When the 14U team played at Camillus, they lost 3-1. Meredith Kirk scored
with an assist from Marlena Doerr.
LT Furman made 19 saves in goal. The next day they hosted the Binghamton
16Us who defeated Ithaca
14U, 8-2. Ithaca goalie Alex Stagliano stopped 21 shots to Binghamton's 11. Goals for Ithaca were scored by
Kirk assisted by Clara Karastury and unassisted by
Bridget Derraugh.
After two periods of scoreless hockey, Ithaca
edged Oswego
2-1 in their first of two Sunday away games. Samantha Craig and Katie
Long scored unassisted. In the second game, the tables were turned and Ithaca lost 1-2 featuring
a goal by Emily Eisenhut assisted by Lauren Cole.
Sarah Eisenhut made about 30 saves in the two games
while her teammates
made the Oswego
goalie stop over 50.
